Modern Dance classes are now being offered

What exactly is Modern Dance?

Modern dance has become a staple in a well-rounded dancer's training. Meeting the demands for original, thought-provoking material, it is a key ingredient in diversifying performances. Modern classes at AMAC draw from numerous styles of dance, performance art and theatrical ideas. Proper technique, terminology, and "dropping the weight" for more grounded movement are the primary focus of Fall enrollment; perfecting innovative performance pieces for May's recital is the focus during Winter. Classes do not convene during the Summer, although private lessons and choreography sessions are available for $35 per hour.

Why should my child enroll?

Modern dance courses offered at AMAC provide students with an outlet for self expression and creativity. Other advantages of dance training include the development of core strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. Enrollment provides a multi-faceted stepping stone that prepares your child for dance in all other forms, as well as builds confidence. If you are looking for utilization of both the body and the mind, this class is where you will find it.

"I really enjoyed Stephanie's class. It improved how I moved, not to mention my turns, which were less than flawless. It changed my whole perspective on what I thought dancing really was. Her choreography was neat, and it was beyond cool that she let us make up certain parts on our own, which made it really original."
--Jessie Goliver, Intermediate student

"Best Saturday dance class ever!"
